Terms & Conditions

By taking lessons with BSM Tamworth you automatically agree to the terms & conditions outlined below.

Ahead of your first driving lesson with BSM Tamworth, we will ask to verify your driving information and get your check code. This can be done through the following link: https://www.gov.uk/check-driving-information

License & Eyesight

  1. You must hold a current, valid driving license (provisional or full), which must be presented on your first driving lesson.
  2. You must demonstrate that you are able to read (with glasses or contact lenses, if necessary) a car number plate from a distance of 20 metres (20.5 metres for an old style number plate).

Payment For Lessons

Payment for lessons can be made by cash or bank transfer direct or through the AA app. Payment by bank transfer must be made 48hours before your lesson to avoid cancellation. Cash payments must be received at the start of the lesson.

 Lesson Postponement or Cancellation

A minimum of 48 hours’ notice is required to postpone or cancel a lesson. Otherwise, full payment will still be due. Persistent cancellations are likely to result in your regular slot being offered to a pupil on our waiting list.

Lateness and ‘No Show’ For Lessons

It is in your interests to be punctual for lessons. Due to other bookings we are unable to extend the lesson should you arrive late. We will normally wait a maximum of 15 minutes before abandoning the lesson, resulting in the lesson fee being forfeited (if pre-paid) or becoming due for payment.

Learner Comfort & Safety

  • You are advised to wear suitable clothing and footwear which does not restrict movement.
  • You are required to notify us of any matters that may affect your ability or entitlement to take driving lessons.
  • You MUST be fit to drive. You should make yourself aware of your responsibilities under the Road Traffic Act concerning the use of alcohol and drugs. We reserve the right to terminate the lesson if we believe that you are unfit to drive.

 Driving Test

  1. Driving tests will be agreed with your instructor, on a date and time mutually agreed with yourself and instructor. Please do not book tests without discussing with your instructor as they may not be available.
  2. Driving tests should not be booked until you and your instructor are satisfied that you are at the required standard for test.
  3. Driving test bookings will take priority over lessons, therefore lessons may be postponed to allow for tests. Any changes to lesson bookings as a result of this will be notified well in advance.
  4. The DVSA requires three clear working days’ notice of cancellation or postponement of tests. Failure to provide the required notice will result in the loss of the test fee.

Audio & Visual Recording

  1. Our vehicles are fitted with both internal and external recording equipment for insurance and training purposes for which we are registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO).
  2. Recordings will not be shared outside of BSM Tamworth in any capacity without prior consent; the only exception to this is to identify someone for purposes requested by the police.
  3. Recordings are stored securely and only for as long as is legitimately required.
